Not Taking It Lion Down

Lion bites off man's finger at Jamaica Zoo as horrified guests watch on - with video!

The idiot in question can be seen taunting a lion via poking and pointing at the animal through the bars of its cage. Not unreasonably (for any animal, let alone an apex predator...), the lion isn't amused and bites down on the man's hand. After a brief struggle he manages to get free, at the cost of one finger.

As mentioned before there have been plenty of idiots showing a complete lack of respect for our animal cousins, but this particular idiot has much less of an excuse as he is one of the zookeepers. Perhaps worse, one witness reported that apparently it was "their job to put on a show" and so it's hardly any wonder the lion wasn't in a joking mood.

Compared to past awards the zookeeper got away comparatively lightly, but the included video certainly goes to show that animals, especially ones with sharp teeth and claws, don't like being taunted anymore than humans do.

This was a zookeeper and not just a random visitor? That's definitely Darwin-level stupidity as far as I'm concerned. Thanks, Peter!

Thanks - it's a HM for me - purely because he is a zoo-keeper
