Cozumel firemen called to rescue man who jumped into well to avoid arrest Cozumel firemen called to rescue man who jumped into well to avoid arrest APRIL 6, 2022 | COZUMEL NEWS

Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel firemen were called to a private home Monday night to remove a man from a well after he jumped in to avoid being arrested. Police made the request for firemen assistance after they responded to the report of a domestic situation.

The parents of two adult males reportedly called 911 around 10:30 p.m. after the pair began to violently fight. Both men, who had been drinking, were met by police at their home in San Miguel.

While police were handcuffing one brother, 24-year-old Roger N, the second jumped into a 10-meter deep well in an attempt to avoid the same fate. He is said to have tied a rope around his neck in doing so, the rope used to hoist the bucket from the well.

It took four firemen and three police officers to remove him from the well Firemen were called in to remove the intoxicated man from the water well. Since the well was too narrow for a ladder, they had to devise a pully system to remove him. It took four firemen, with assistance from three police officers, about an hour to get the man out of the well. Daniel N was taken to hospital for medial treatment.

Sorry nancy, this doesn't say Darwin to me. The other moderators may differ. Thanks anyway.

It's been a while since we've had any stories involving people trying to run/hide from the authorities in stupid ways like this so I'll allow it. Thanks, Nancy.

Thanks, Nancy. The fact he tied the well rope round his neck before jumping makes it a HM for me
