Book smart but no common sense
Xuan Wang had the credentials, background, and salary to have a fantastic life but it was cut short by an error she overlooked for her quest of nature's euphoria.
People die at Yosemite all the time so you would think Xuan would take heed of any warning signs but she did not.
Ignoring the sign that showed the Mist Trail was closed, Xuan went ahead.
Anyone could see this trail was dangerous with the snow and ice but she didn't care.
On this trail, she was killed by falling ice and rock.
"Wang allegedly ignored clearly marked signs and a gate meant to prevent visitors from entering the area, according to park officials."

Sorry, Diane, but this kind of nonsense happens FAR too often. Thanks anyway.

Given there were signs and a gate warning people away from this trail I'm more than willing to accept this. A little bit of Googling found this photo of the gate at the start of the trail, so it would have been impossible to ignore if it was closed: https://hikingguy.com/wp-content/uploads/mist-trail-yosemite-directions-14-1536x864.jpg And more information on the trail and more photos can be found here: https://hikingguy.com/hiking-trails/yosemite-hikes/mist-trail-to-vernal-falls-and-nevada-falls/ Thanks, Diane!

Thanks - sounds like she was an experienced hiker, who should have known better
