Beaver Shot

A man in Belarus saw a beaver while driving along and stopped to have his photo taken with the creature.

While trying to grab the beaver it bit him several times, cutting a major artery in his leg.

His friends were unable to dam the river of blood and he was DOA by the time he made it to hospital.

Sorry, this doesn't say Darwin to me; the other moderators may differ. Maybe I'm jaded by Foxworthy's "You know you're a redneck if" spiel which has a similar, if non-lethal, occurrence.

After reading the linked article I'm willing to accept this. There have apparently been an increase in attacks by aggressive beavers, so he certainly should have known better. That's enough for me given that we don't get all that many stories involving beavers.

I too read the article and have to go with a DA. I worked at a wildlife preserve and have seen beavers (underwater, where they belong)! I think of them as very huge and potentially aggressive rats. If they can take down a tree, they can (and will, if provoked) bite off an extremity! And no, they DON'T like to pe picked up!! Thanks!
