Cock and Ball Story

Cockfighting is one of those "sports" where two roosters, equipped with sharp blades tied to their legs, go at it in a ring while the hairless apes watching the event wager on them. One wins, and one becomes a chicken dinner. Cockfighting is illegal in most of the civilized world, and in those few places where it's still legal, it is increasingly being rejected by polite society.

In India, cockfighting has been illegal since 1960, but India is a large country and cockfighting is still somewhat popular in remote rural areas. This incident occurred in the village of Lothunur. The unnamed owner of the bird was preparing it for the fight. Apparently, the fighting cock had other ideas and attempted to escape, slicing into the owner's groin with its fighting knives.

The owner died on the way to the hospital from blood loss. Happily, the fighting cock will, after being shown as evidence in court, be transferred to a farm where, ultimately, it too will become a chicken dinner...!

I read that earlier - and was going to submit it. It's a bit gory, but a DA for me! If I submit a story, I always moderate it as a DA - I admire your restraint :-D

It's not surprising the bird will have to be put down -fighting cocks are so warped, they tend to remain aggressive beyond all reason even when rescued. Rehabilitation is nearly useless. Thanks, James!
