Hi,

this is not an Award. Maybe it doesn't even qualify as an honorable Mention. Maybe it happens all the time and I just don't know about it. I thought you should get a giggle out of it. Well this guy has potential, kinda. And maybe he wasn't mentioned to you so far. But I think it has a lesson of its own. I'm not sure how well your german is. The original text will be much better than my unpolished skills.

A 34-year-old long-time-drug-addict found a 4 mm Revolver, supposedly in a dumpster. Together with a "friend" they removed the bullets and replaced them with with a Q-Tip. Why? They wanted to play russian roulette but weren't in for the real thing. So in turns they let the drum spin. But they didn't really pull the trigger. On their turn they would just fake it and take a peek in the barrel to find out if they might have "won". At 1 a.m. the friend left. But wannabee-nominee wanted to give it another try. He looked up in which chamber the Q-Tip was but misjudged the direction he rotated it in. Then he pulled the trigger. The Q-Tipp entered his brain by 2 mm.

He was charged for unlawful ownership of a gun. The event actually sparked the thought of quitting drugs. Hopefully we'll never hear about him again.

Definitely Keep: Honorable Mention
Gadzooks, this is quite an unexpected twist on an otherwise too-common incident involving guns. I never in a million years would have thought that "shooting" a Q-Tip out of a gun could be harmful, but according to the translation of the referenced article this man spent 8 days in the hospital as a result. Given the extremely unusual use of a gun in this situation I'm more than willing to nominate him for an HM. Thanks for sending this in!
