My brother Piz was kayaking with me on a nice warm day. It did not occur to us that the water was freezing or that there was a storm warning on the weather channel. We went in our blue and red boats. Piz wanted to see how deep the water was, so he jumped in assuming that the water was warm (it wasn't). He was freezing as we got onto a pile of rocks in the middle of the lake. We decided to keep going. Suddenly, the wind picked up. Waves crashed against Piz's boat, and it flipped carrying him into the water a second time. We crawled to rock island. Finally, the storm got too big to row any more. We went to shore only for Piz to trip on a loose strap and fall headfirst into the freezing water a 3rd time from the dock. It was a cold day for all of us (especially Piz).

Even on a warm day it's possible to become hypothermic, especially if it's windy. Glad you both finally made it home ok.
