Unattended Runaway Volvo hits Owner
The deceased, well-known to this writer (we attended College together where he was known for ingesting heroic quantities of cannabis), apparently was trying to use his functional 1991 Volvo to push his presumably non-functional Nissan down the street in front of his home for some unknown reason. An attempted jump start? We can only speculate. He succeeded in moving the Nissan, which started rolling down the street with no one in it. At this point, he jumped out of the Volvo and left it w/o setting the emergency brake & ran after the Nissan. At some point, Gary realized that the unfettered Volvo had started rolling downhill in the other direction & apparently ran after it. It would seem that he caught the Volvo, tried to accost it, but the Volvo won the fight handily. After trashing Gary, the Volvo continued down the street, picked up some speed, & ended up inserted into a neighbor’s house. The newspaper article listed above includes a nice picture of the runaway Volvo. And, no, Gary did not survive the unprovoked attack from the errant Volvo. He was found laying in the street, dead or near death, & was declared dead at the hospital.
