Woman killed by her boat propeller

https://www.nbc-2.com/story/40096047/woman-dies-after-being-hit-in-the-head-by-a-boat-propeller-near-lani-kai-resort

In front of the Lani Kai Resort on Fort Myers it’s common for beach goers to park their vessels close to shore and hop out for a day of booze , music and fun. On this particular day a woman whose name has yet to be revealed apparently was over served and her boat proceeded to get stuck in the drifting sands beneath the 2 foot surf. Instead of getting towed like a person with a 90 IQ might have decided , she went behind the boat and pushed the 150 horsepower Mercury 4 stroke engine while some other moron gunned the it.

The boat was unable to break free but burst forth a few inches which was just enough for her to lose her grip on the engine and face plant on the spinning prop. Hopefully she has yet to procreate or this episode might repeat itself in a few decades.

Very sad but holy shitballs , what an idiot

Sorry, but this sounds like an accident to me. Thanks anyway.

As a lifelong boater this just screams "stupidity" to me, especially since it's something that could easily be avoided by simply asking another boater for a tow. Getting into the water anywhere near a running engine is a recipe for disaster. Doing so specifically to try to push a stuck boat while mere inches from a spinning propeller is incredibly idiotic. The linked article says they were unsure if the engine was running, but other articles with interviews from witnesses clearly state that the engine was running. Thanks, Tommy!
