Boy killed in explosion in Fino Mornasco, neighbors: "It looked like dynamite"
Alessandro Fino lost his life in the explosion

Fino Mornasco House Explodes, 21 Year Old Dies, Father Survive.

Fino Mornasco (Como), 12 May 2020 - "Whoever was there when the explosion occurred must be considered lucky. There was rubble everywhere, it was like dynamite." In Via Liguria, Andrate, information was exchanged among the many bewildered neighbors who took to the street in the rain, gripped with fright still palpable several hours after an explosion so loud it ripped through the air to shake the windows of residences hundreds of meters away.

The explosion and fire that began at 6.04, completely gutted a two-storey house, and nearly brought down the two houses on each side. Sadly, 21-year-old Alessandro died in the explosion, the only one who remained in the house of chais,

The puzzling sequence of events is under investigation, and near the end of a long day, teams were finally given to access that highly unsafe place to start the damage survey.

The fire tragedy was preceded by 'subtle' signs of trouble that woke up the entire block: a series of explosions, to the point that many people had already fled their homes, despite the early hour, when a fire broke out. Thick smoke rose from the basement of the house, followed by a rending BANG: pieces of all kinds of materials hurtled up to a hundred meters away, striking people, and damaging other houses. Many people required minor medical attention. In the meantime, a third tragedy was unfolding inside the ground-zero house, a place a family of four called home. At that moment there were two members of the family still present inside, father and son, the son about to become a victim of the fire.

The mother had already left for work, the second child had slept that night elsewhere with his grandparents. The father, who was himself injured in the blast, ran pell-mell out of the house, realizing that now was a good time for a speedy retreat. Neighbors heard him yelling to his son, to come out, convinced that this son was following him outside. But when the house exploded into a fireball, it was just the father outside.

In the hustle and bustle of panic these brain-freeze events were thought to be caused by a gas leak, but then it was realized that something else had happened. The twenty-one year old victim of this tragic accident, it seems, was at the same time a victim of his own fondness for explosives. Some collect comic books, some collect POGS, some NFTs, but this millenial collects things that go BOOM in the night.

During the first reconnaissance, the firefighters found cans, iron pipes, traces of fertilizers and acids.

However, it was not possible to further survey the premises, now mostly empty space, on which the house once stood: the firefighters of the NBCR unit, specialized in chemical and biological disasters, arrived on the spot, together with the USAR - Urban Search and Rescue - and the bomb squads of the carabinieri (gendarmerie). They flanked the fire brigade teams of Como and Cant, of Milan and of the neighboring commands: dozens of operators working for hours.

Before proceeding with the surveys that will lead to establish specifics of what happened, and where the victim was at the time of the explosion, it is essential to secure the area, and to trace any potentially dangerous material dispersed in the blast. In addition, it is believed that there are various explosive substances inside, which for hours, yesterday morning, produced small explosions and reactions around the torn arantine and Dad at school: rules and when to take positive contacts Quarantine with third dose: what to do if positive or in case of close contact Robin Srl Company subject to management and coordination by Monrif Company data ISSN Privacy Privacy settings Copyright area.

Our hero, Alessandro Fino 21 years old, had a long standing passion for explosives. He kept numerous chemical ingredients, detonators and actual bombs in his room and in his garden. he used to go buying all the chemicals with cash, to avoid raising suspicion and being traced by law enforcement. in the early morning of the 12th of may, around 6 o'clock, some kind of reaction starts followed by small explosion, Alessandro manages to tell his father to flee the house, and he does, our wannabe darwin-award-recipient however stays in the house. some minutes later the father can be heard calling for his son in the street, then the house is rocked by a massive explosion and alessandro is now kind of "everywhere". In the aftermath the whole neighborhood is evaquated and more bombs are found, further chemical reactions keep causing explosion for the better part of the day and police EODs spend ours searching for more bombs and securing the houses.

Well, that's a hobby! I've kept this as a DA, because of the scale of the explosives - he went above and beyond!

The only reason I'm rejecting this is the article translation says pieces from the explosion hit other people, injuring. Otherwise, this would be a perfect Darwin!

Dammit, bystanders were injured! Otherwise this would have been perfect! Thanks just the same!

Agreed. Those unfortunate bystanders prevent this from qualifying. Thanks just the same!

Respectfully disagree, the 'bystander injured' rule needs to be considered in light of the fact that the father accomodated his grown son, along with the son's er, unsavory hobbies. No, the father being injured is not funny, quite serious. But I still judge this grandiose exit, this potential Darwin Award to be worthy of at least visiting the Slush Pile. Let us see what others think about this.
