David Sandel wonders, "Is it possible to earn a Darwin Award twice? An example may be, if a man earns his first Darwin Award by losing his penis or both testicles in a stupid way, and later the earns a second Award by losing his life by another foolish action." Darwin replies, "This sounds like a question of whether double jeopardy applies. Can a Darwin Awards recipient be "tried" twice for the same "crime" of being too stupid to keep himself in the gene pool? I think so -- after all, some of the men who win Darwin Awards are probably done reproducing anyway; it's only the spirit of the act (of removing oneself from the living) that's required to win. But I'm curious about the viewpoint of my readers." |
