Moving Sheet Metal

2015 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Honorable Mention - Personal Account While I have access to documents that prove this including photos of the aftermath, they are classified and will probably never see the light of day.

While working on a large building project, not long after a decade had passed without an accident and several hundred people working on the project at once, one man decided that he needed a piece of sheet metal from the back of a stack. The metal in question was stacked in a pile leaning vertically against a wall, weighing over half a ton in total, with all pieces having an edge all around bent at 90 degrees and are razor sharp, and require special gloves to handle to avoid injury. To do something like this normally would require a forklift to move them and access the sheet, this man decided to grab the sheets with both arms, leaning them against him (like tipping a vending machine) and push the sheet out with one hand whilst holding them all, since he was the only person around at the time.

He almost managed to get away from the aftermath, but not quite. The sheets started to fall, he jumped back, and managed to almost have both of his feet completely severed. I, unfortunately, do not know for certain if his feet were saved, but I belive they were saved.
