NEWS: MAN REGRETS Jumping onto whale being eaten by sharks.

Man Immediately Regrets Jumping Onto A Dead Whale Being Eaten By Great White Sharks

Nov. 3, 2014, Peter Farquhar, Business Insider Australia

Harrison Williams almost wins this year's Darwin Award. Even the parents of this Perth, Australia, man who jumped onto a whale circled by hungry sharks say their son is an idiot.

Harrison Williams, of Quinns Rock, north of Perth, was videotaped jumping from his friend's boat and swimming across to the dead whale, because one of his mates said "it would be pretty funny to surf the whale." Seven News footage showed several large great white sharks circling and feeding on the other side of the whale.

The 26-year-old said he knew they "busy chomping on the whale," but told Seven News he knew it was a stupid thing to do once he was on top of the whale. "Definitely [wouldn't do it again] ? I've done it, I don't need to do it again. Definitely it was a stupid act - didn't mean to disrespect anyone. Mum thinks I'm an idiot - Dad's not too proud either," he said.

Crew on the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter snapped photographs yesterday of two huge sharks, one estimated to be 5.5 metres long, feeding on the whale.

Man climbs onto whale carcass as feeding sharks circle off West Australian coast

Sat 1 Nov 2014, 6:13pm
Video: Watch footage of the man climbing onto the carcass.
Photo: Man dived off his boat and climbed onto the dead whale.

A man has climbed on top of a whale carcass surrounded by several tiger sharks and a white shark off the West Australian coast. It is believed the man dived off his boat and climbed onto the dead whale between Fremantle and Rottnest Island on Saturday afternoon.

It is not yet known why the man chose to board the carcass.

In a tweet, Surf Life Saving WA said several tiger sharks and a white shark were spotted feeding on the whale carcass about 1:30pm (AWST). Surf Life Saving WA tweeted several shark sightings from the Westpac lifesaver helicopter throughout the day. Among them was a five-metre white shark detected four nautical miles off Rottnest Island.

Thanks, but we don't accept submissions that are just links. Links tend to change, expire, etc. so a writeup with all the specific details is required. That way we have something useful if the link fails for any reason.
