Darwin/Wendy says, "Thanks for the submission, but I respectfully disagree with the submitter and moderators, sounds like a dedicated man fell victim to a chance accident. I admire his pluck in digging out a boulder from his yard. Isn't there a movie or story about a fellow who starts digging out a large rock in his yard and discovers it is the tip of the iceberg? A gigantic boulder he just cannot stop digging up?"

NH Man Pinned by 6,000-lb Boulder in Yard, Dies

RAYMOND, NH (AP) — Police in Raymond, New Hampshire, say a man who tried to dig around a 6,000-pound boulder in his yard became pinned under the rock and died.

Police said 47-year-old Paul Comeau Jr. had been working on extricating the boulder over several months. He was digging around the rock in an attempt to free it. While he was working on it Monday, the boulder became dislodged, causing him to be pinned between it and the wall of a ditch.
