Impaled,The Case of the High Jumper

I am the head of Accident and Emergency of Cecilia Makiwane Hospital, Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa. A young man was brought in at about 7.30 am on 31 Sept 2013. He elbow and forearm was impaled by multiple spikes from a burglar bar attached to the Main Gate. He was jumping into his Girl Friends place, slightly tipsy when his left forearm got caught and pierced by the 4 inch metal spikes. The girl's father had to call a welder to remove that piece from the gate and brought him to me. On a first look he seemed to have External Fixators which we commonly use for fixing bones. But later when the story came out, its just that this time he was not so lucky like before. We too him to the theatre afterwards
