Hockey player dies after snake bite

This poor Australian hockey player thought a king brown snake was a python, so decided to pick it up and throw it into the bushes. Then, after the snake bit him on the arm, he decided not to seek medical help immediately, but instead go for a 2 km run and ensure the venom went all through his system. Incredible - it is hard to make this stuff up.

I don't know about you, but if I lived in an area where there were venomous snakes then the very first thing I'd do after ANY snakebite would be to get checked out and make sure it wasn't poisonous. But then I'm not a contender for a Darwin Award. Thanks, Sundeep!

Oh. My. Dear. Lord. And Australia has an incredibly high proportion of poisonous snakes, so you'd think he'd be extra careful. (And even nonpoisonous snakes have NASTY bacteria.) Thanks Sundeep!
