Two young men decided to tempt fate by rolling down a ski-slope strapped to the inside of a water ball in the Karachay-Cherkessia region of Russia.

Common sense would have dictated that it was a probably not too clever an idea to roll down a mountain, tied to the inside of an out-of-control ball in such a way that you had neither control of the ball nor any way of loosening yourself if something bad happened.

Needless to say, the catchers at the end of the ski slope didn't manage to catch them on the way past, and the ball continued the call of gravity, off the edge of the slope and over a precipice where it disappeared from view, taking its hapless occupants with it.

Subsequent reports suggested one dead and the other critically injured in hospital.
