Another copper theft goes up in smo

I wonder if Santa saw ‘Sparky’ Martin on his rounds?

Just two days removed from Christmas, the family of 46 yr old Dennis Martin, of Griffin, Georgia notified the local Sheriffs office of his disappearance. Maybe the family gathering was a bit much and he decided to take a stroll for a day, but two days gone was a bit much.

Shortly after contacting authorities, the Sheriffs office sent an officer to the old Dundee Mills factory, which has been vacated for some time. How they knew to check here is not yet known by the general public...hmmm.

Yep; up on the roof-top (click, click, click) near the power lines and generator were the fried remains of Martin, another copper wire thief-no-more.

Which begs the question; was this attempt to gather copper wire a Christmas gift to his family, since he went missing around Christmas day?

original story: GRIFFIN - The Spalding County sheriff's office says a Griffin man who apparently was trying to steal copper wire was electrocuted.

Authorities say the body of 46-year-old Dennis Martin Williams was found shortly after midnight Saturday on the roof of the old Dundee Mills, a former textile mill.

They say family members of the victim notified the sheriff's office after he had been missing for about two days.

An officer went to the location and found Williams' body on the roof near power lines. Fire department and emergency medical personnel helped investigators recover the body.

The body has been sent to the Georgia State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Anyone who tries stealing copper wire from a live power line in the future (and yes, there will ALWAYS be more) should AT LEAST know that getting killed in such a manner does NOT leave a good-looking corpse!
