Keep your legs Inside the ride

2011 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Malloco, in Chile, was the place chosen for the 2011 version of the Chilean Beer Party. A very nice, family activity, with lots of food, mechanical rides, and of course Beer.

Diego Donoso (20) was the kind of guy who dares the evolution, that kind of man so manly that the rules that apply for normal peolpe just don't apply to him. Not common sense rules, neither safety rules.

so, if you are at a beer party, at a very decent alcohol level, and you see a ride that can make you puke everything ingested on the day... sure, why not?...

but our hero was not only too manly yo avoid a chance of create a full scale constellation of barf, also was too manly to follow the safety rules. "Keep hands and legs inside the ride" -No way man, that's for pussies. Even if you have a steel cage to restrain you, a true viking like him, will fight and manage to take its legs out of the ride, and so he did. The rest of the story is just application of third's Newton Law.

If you have two legs moving between a restrained seat and a massive steel arm that moves the chair, the forces between the steel and the legs will simply break the legs in a very similar way as you can cut a paper with sicssors.

Diego broke its two leegs so badly that his bones did'nt just got broken, they shattered in tiny pieces, and some of these pieces entered to the blood circuit, causing a stroke that killed him painfully at the next day

Thanks, but the translation of the referenced article doesn't make it clear exactly how the accident happened, so it's not obvious as to whether blatant stupidity was involved. Even if it was, we get lots of submissions of people doing stupid things on carnival rides, etc. Thanks just the same.

I interpret this as a story of a 20 year old (old enough) who was quite drunk at an amusement park (too common in a d of itself, but a perfectly set stage) who not only boarded a rather dangerous ride (not specified, but no doubt some sort of roller coaster or other such ride where massive g forces come into play) but flagrantly disregarded safety rules. The result was snapped legs where bone fragments contributed to a stroke which killed him the following day (quite painful as well as stupid, and a good moral lesson to would-be thrill-seekers everywhere). I think it adds up alright!! Thanks!

I have to agree with James on this one.The reason this guy's legs got busted in the first place is enough to qualify him.
