Miami-Dade police spokesman Roy Rutland says the woman was backing out of her parking space about 6:20 p.m. Thursday when she hit a vehicle next to hers. She stepped out of her BMW SUV to check the damage.

Rutland says the woman left the vehicle in reverse with the driver's side door open. The vehicle rolled backward, striking her. It continued in reverse, hitting two more vehicles in the parking lot.

The woman died in the parking garage. Her name has not been released

Sorry, Lorne, but this is too common today. There are many stories in the archives of people failing to put their vehicles in park, etc, and being flattened or pinned by them. Thanks anyway, and submit again!

I think I'm with Shadow here. Usually, such vehicles are left in "park" (or neutral) and roll of their own accord over the hapless passenger. In this case, it's bad driving compounded by stupidity. We'll let the readers decide on this one! Thanks, Lorne!
