A Schiller Park man died Thursday night after he was injured Tuesday while jumping off of a homemade diving platform into a shallow inflatable pool.

The incident happened about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at the man's home in Schiller Park Police Officer Michael Marrazzo said.

The man apparently had built the diving platform over a 3-foot deep inflatable pool located near a tree, and was injured after he dove off the platform into the pool, Marrazzo said.

Rafal Goratowski, 28, was pronounced dead Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 11:58 p.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one else was present when he was injured, and police do not suspect foul play in his death, Marrazzo said.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Friday. Schiller Park police are investigating.
