Around noon we responded to an explosion in a residential neighborhood. When we arrived there was a corner house that was completely demolished, the rubble was about 3 feet high and every piece of lumber was completely splintered. Windows were broken up to a block away and a 2-story apartment next to the house had the entire back wall caved in. Neighbors had pulled two victims from the rubble.

The victims were 2 young men, UCLA students who had heard you could shoot into dynamite and it wouldn't explode, so... They somehow got a case of dynamite, set it at one end of the hall in the house, then started shooting into it with a .22 rifle from the other end of the hall. They were wrong.

They both had numerious injuries including large splinters sticking into various areas of the body, the worst was a splintered 2 x 4, about 2 feet long sticking into one young man's groin.
