Man got shot

2010 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

My father in law told me about a guy who was helping out at a shooting range in Åland, Finland. They had a target looking like a moose thatr was going by at 80 yards range from the shooters. For some reason the guy decided to go to the other side of the shooting area so he jumped on the target on the far side so the shooters couldn't see him behind the target. He was of course killed as he was joy riding the target.

This was told to me by this father in law and he has no humour, he doesn't even know how to smile. He is extremely serious so I don't doubt the story. I can get more info about the story if you like.

This is just that side of bizarre for me. The guy knows it's an active shooting range, and decides to joy ride the target?! The other moderators may differ. Thanks, Lars, and submit agian!

Without some sort of verification the most we can award this is a Personal Account, but even for that I'm a little confused. You mention he was joyriding the target moose but the people shooting couldn't see him? That doesn't make sense to me. If he was joyriding the target then wouldn't he be on top of it where he could be seen? If he was behind it then why did he go back there in the first place and why didn't anybody see him going back there? I just have too many questions about this submission... Let's see what the other moderators have to say. Thanks, Lars-Erik!

Lars-Erik, I would definitely like to see more information! I've been deer hunting for two years now (got my first this year!), and common sense tells you NOT to be anywhere near other hunters, especially opposite them and within range! This goes triple if it's a shooting range and wildlife goes by (in the National Guard, we have to wait until the wildlife exits the range area). If it was a stationary target, then this guy really takes the cake. Please send more info!
