Pistol Misfire

2010 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Rear Admiral Satyendra Singh Jamwal of the Indian Navy was examining weapons at a training site for new cadets. When the pistol in his hand started misfiring a couple of times, he decided it would be a good idea to find out why, with the muzzle pointing towards him this time. The pistol misfired again and fatally injured him. As if to prove that stupidity does indeed run in their genes, S.S. Jamwal's younger brother, Rameshar Singh Jamwal has also met with a bad accident some 15 years back when he dived into an empty pool, thereby paralysing himself.

We have had this story before, guy teaching gun safety shoots himself while doing so. However the man in the previous story was not a rear admiral as this man was, rank should equate experience and you never point a misfiring weapon at yourself... it may need a slighty better write up... see what the other mods think.

Sorry, but idiots shooting themselves is far too common today. And rank does not necessarily equate experience or common sense.

I'm with Candi on this one. A year or so ago we actually had video submitted of a gun safety instructor shooting himself. It happens to all sorts, and with regularity. Thanks just the same.

I'd like to see the story about diving into an empty pool! :-)

While I agree with my fellow moderators about shooting accidents normally being too common, what makes this a keeper is that his younger brother was paralyzed 15 years ago by jumping into an empty swimming pool! And if that isn't Darwinesque, I don't know what is!
