At Risk Survivor: Horsing Around

2010 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

I teach riding lessons to a man who is training to be a member of the mounted police. He recently told me a story that he had been told by a senior member of the mounted unit.

The policeman and his horse were sitting outside the bar when a drunk man ran up and pulls the horse's tail. When the policeman yelled at him and asked if he was crazy, the drunk man ran away. He came back a few minutes later with his girlfriend, and proceeded to pull the horses tail again.

At this point, another mounted cop came up to try and help the situation. As they were speaking to the drunk man's girlfriend, they noticed that the drunk man was missing. As they looked around, they noticed that he was laying on the ground behind the horse.

It appears that the man pulled the horse's tail one time too many, and the usually docile and tolerant police horse decided that it no longer wanted to put up with the drunk.

Drunk or not he certainly should have known better. Thanks, Morgan.
