While mounting an M2 machine gun ontp the turret system of his MATV during pre-combat checks, this soldier experienced difficulty inserting the locking pin on the Mod 93 machine gun mount. The solodierthen attempted to force the locking pin intoplace with a rock. After this failed, he then secured a loose .50 cal round, using it to hammer at ther locking pin, attempting to force the locking pin into place. afer several hits with the .50 cal rounjd, the primer actiovated, setrtingthe round off in the soldiers hand. The injuries suffered to his right hand include, middle finger, ring and pinkie finger.

(A stomache churning photo is avaialble to substantiate this story. Soldier survived this incident and will be known as lefty from now on)
