Kamikaze Surfer

2010 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

On June 6th 2010, portuguese 33-year old man decided to put his newfound surfboard to the test. The surfboard was damaged and had been abandoned in the trash, he had no experience, was deaf, went alone and chose one of the worst days possible, with terrible weather and cold/agitated waters, on what had been a few weeks of great weather. Oh I should probably point out he also did not know how to swim.

Astoundingly, he was never found. A terrible, random accident.

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
He couldn't swim and he was trying to learn surfing on his own? Either that's extremely gutsy or extremely stupid, and I don't think it was gutsy. Thanks, Pedro!
