Police investigation was started immediately and body was identified.

The investigation was very short. On 30th of April 2010 the police announced that they have identified the body to be an Estonian man, who has been trying to steal the elevator engine.

He was under the elevator taking parts away from the elevator so that he is able to remove the engine.

What was sad was the fact that the guy removed parts that hold the elevator from falling down. And the man being below the elevator this can be considered as a pretty stupid action.

The Finnish police is sorry about the accident and said that this man was not a professional. Therefore it can be said that the Finnish police wants to have more training for criminals so that these kinds of accidents won't happen again.

Of course someone might say that a better idea would be to NOT try to steal elevator engine while your are under it.
