Off the Beaten Path

2010 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Christopher Goins age 34 decided to go offroading. Rather than find a suitable forest road he decided to try his luck on a local hiking trail. He drove his Dodge truck to the Slate Canyon trailhead. The trail was intended for hikers. Goins drove his truck around barries that warned him that no vehicles were permitted on the trails. The truck being to wide to negotiate the narrow trail and switchbacks rolled down a steep incline, ending up in a parking lot. To further seal the deal for his Darwin Nomination, Goins did not wear his seat belt and was ejected as the truck rolled.

Driving along hiking trails and then rolling off them is a new one in my book! Thanks, Arno!

Hopefully his truck rolled into a nice parking space at the bottom of the incline. Too bad he wasn't in the truck and wouldn't be able to hike those trails (read: you DON'T get a second chance)! :-)
