The Dangers of an Easy Buck

On March 16, 2005, Larry Martin, a truck driver, pulled over on the exit road of the weigh scales on I-5 in Skagit County, Washington. He thought he saw a wallet on the road. Behind him, he saw a truck with an "Oversized Load" sign on it approaching on his side of the road. The other truck driven by Conan, swerved to the left to avoid striking the other truck with the trusses hanging off the truck.

Meanwhile, Martin, rather than wait for the truck to pass, tries to retrieve the wallet. He is struck by the trusses, knocked under the trailer and both of his legs were run over. Martin sues Conan for negligence. The case is dismissed in favor of Conan.

I looked this up; the case documents are available online. Apparently Martin STOOD UP after picking up the wallet. Problem: Conan's truck hadn't finished passing him! How stupid can you get! This is no regular vehicle accident; Martin has gone far, far beyond the call of stupidity! Thanks, Anderson, and submit again!
