During the night of the 1st of november policemen near the town of Liege, Belgium received a desesperate call from a 37 years old man saying that he had been attacked on a motorway. When the policemen finally arrived on the scene, the man was lying stabbed dead on the ground and his car was burning. But there were any proofs of fighting or struggling on the body, only stabbing on the shoulder and in the neck. Inspectors then analysed the man's cell phone and saw that the man had been in contact with a old friend of him. They ask the man about the aggression and it appears that the dead man had asked his friend to bring him a weapon and a jerrycan of fuel to simulate an aggression (in fact he never get insurance money back when his restaurant burned 2 years before and he wanted to try another way to get money from the insurance). His friend bring him what he had asked and let alone along the motorway, the victim then set his car on fire, called the police and then stabbed himself but he cut an artery in the neck and had lost his blood when the police finally arrived on the scene.

This fraudster went the extra TWO miles to "fake" an attack. Since it was all self-inflicted (and not with the intention of actually killing himself), there's self-selection.
