Nutty Putty Cave

2009 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Darwin/Wendy says, "Accepted into the archive. Thanks for the submission, anonymous. This man went off into an unexplored region of the Nutty Putty cave, knowing full well that it had trapped others in its windy passages. Then he went into a small, un-mapped passage head-first, not the safer feet-first method. Sounds like more than an an unfortuante accident..."

Reader comment: "K-Y Needed"

ORIGINAL SUBMISSION:

A 26 year old six foot 200 pound man died 150 feet underground in the Nutty Putty cave when he tried to crawl through a ten inch by eighteen inch passage and became stuck. Friends caving with him said they were looking for an adventure. The decedent was wedged upside down for about 24 hours before he expired 600 feet from the cave's entrance where rescuers were unable to remove his body from the tiny crevice. He was a medical student planning to become a doctor.

We haven't had one like this for a while. At six foot 200 lbs, he wasn't fat, but 10 x 18 inches is NOT exactly the Great Gate of Kiev, either! If he sought adventure, he certainly found it!

Agreed. I read an article about this earlier today and it certainly sounds like he had nobody to blame but himself. Thanks!
