Mooning a Train (near miss)

2009 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Darwin says, "Thanks for the submission, but although foolhardy, this is not a Darwin Award because the individual involved sounds like a homeless man with mental problems. Traveling with no tikkie, booted off the train, mooning conductor, it all sounds like a person who needs institutional care."
ORIGINAL SUBMISSION:

A 22-year-old German man was dragged along the train platform and tracks for about 200 meters after his clothing became caught in the carriage door. This occurred when the man mooned the railway staff who had removed him from the train for traveling without a ticket.

The man escaped with cuts and bruises when a passenger pulled the emergency brake. A spokesman for the Bremen police remarked: "It's a miracle he wasn't badly hurt. This sort of thing can end up killing you." The man now faces charges for interference in rail transport and insulting the train staff, and may face compensation claims for the 23 trains he delayed.

Definitely Keep: Honorable Mention
While I'm usually the first one to toss a train-related story for being too common due to the huge number of train/pedestrian incidents throughout the world every year I think this one certainly qualifies for some recognition. This guy is certainly solely responsible for what happened to him, and it sounds to me like he deserved what he got. Thanks, Ann!
