The ceiling fan in my bedroom has been missing for a while, leaving a metal "brace" with two -very live- wires sticking out the top. I was afraid I might accidentally reach up there and electrocute myself, so I devised quite the foolproof plan to get the wires out of the way.

There were two holes in the metal brace. Both were just big enough for the wires, with insulation, to fit through. I took both of them in hand, and without a second thought, placed them in the holes.

The power in my room went out and sparks showered everywhere. Apparently I had forgotten that the wires were indeed live. The fuse that regulated power in my room blew out and had to be replaced, but I escaped unharmed, but shaken.

I'll make sure I get a proper electrician to deal with those wires next time.
