I cross that bridge over Trabuco Creek every day going to and from work. I avoid the left hand lane.

This is one dangerous bridge. There is no break down lane on the inside. Cars traveling in the left lane are inches from the barrier.

The railing is very low in the inside with bright LIGHTS shining toward the roadway.

If you breakdown and stop in the left lane of the three lanes you have nowhere to go if a car is coming and doesn't stop.

Anyone not familiar with this situation could easily jump over the railing and plung to their death.

The lady in the referenced story is NOT the first and may not have been the last to die at this location. (I've heard that a Sherriff’s deputy was killed in the same way, but have no reference)

I would like to see the referenced story withdrawn completely. There is no way stupidity played any role in the ladies death.

The city or county still has done NOTHING to correct the dangerous situation. They talk about it, but nothing is done.

There is no way to see anything if you do look before you leap because you are blinded by the lights shining right in your face. It looks like there is a space between the two directions of the bridge, but the space is occupied by open air instead of pavement.

This references http://darwinawards.com/slush/200511/pending20051108-143212.html, and since it concerns information on whether a DA candidate was truly stupid or not, it seems to be worth a look. Thank you Larry; but, please, in the future, submit information on previously submitted stories via "Story Comments" or "misc". Thank you again!

Definitely Keep: For Darwin's Eyes
Thanks, Larry, this provides some important detail to this story.

Definitely Keep: For Darwin's Eyes
While I still think it was an act of stupidity (to go after a few clothes in the darkness), these details certainly make for a good argument against self-selection. Obviously, Darwin makes the final decision, but we DO appreciate the extra details, Larry!
