Hangar 18

2008 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

There is no media vertifacation on this one, as it was an isolated event.

I live on a fairly large Colorado farm, and use a small biplane with a large tank of water with a nozle over a hole to water my crops. I keep it in a hangar when it's not in use. And one night, after a 'little-bit too much alcohol', i stumbled into the hangar and wondered: hmm... I wonder if i can crash my plane through the plane-door... So i climbed into the cockpit, started up the engine, and advanced towards the closed plane-doors. The plane was old, and not made too greatly. But the doors on the other hand, were thick and sturdy, and were strong enough to prevent the plane from passing through. Which is exactly what happened. Too drunk to feel that much pain, I sttaggered into my little house. as you could imagine, my wife was alarmed by my visible injuries and asked what happened. I told her what happened, and dissapointedly tried to bandage my wounds. I sustained no severe injuries, but the plane took a while to fix.

Perhaps a little less alcohol on "those nights" may prevent something worse happening to you in the future! I wonder what your wife did about all of this. I know what MY wife would have done! :-) This is just believable enough for a PA, and somewhat amusing as well!

Aren't we grateful that you never managed to get airborne - innocent people may have been killed on the ground!

Thanks - and maybe a little less alcohol in future :-)
