How stupid can you be??

2008 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Darwin says, "Thanks for the submission, but it just doesn't sound foolhardy enough to me."
A 41 year old woman was carrying a filled gas can,ON HER HEAD, to her garage. The can was leaking. She spilled gasoline over her head and upper body.

Whew, what an ordeal. She then took a break and lit a cigarette.

You guessed it.She was flown to Tampa General hospital with severe burns over the upper part of her body. She lived to tell her tale.

Definitely Keep: Honorable Mention
Although this write-up is wanting (the link to the full article is here: http://www.theledger.com/article/20080327/BREAKING/163360169), the stupidity is DEFINITELY there! T smoke after spilling gasoline on oneself is pretty much asking to be immolated. The fact that this woman survived is amazing in and of itself!

Those cigarettes are killers, especially when combined with gasoline. Thanks for sending this in.

Darwin Awards III: Survival of the Fittest

Hardback. 304 pages. Autographed.
$15
The human race's most popular humor series returns with a brand-new collection of macabre mishaps and misadventures. Honoring those who improve our gene pool by inadvertently removing themselves from it, the Darwin Awards III shows once more how uncommon common sense still is.

Salute the sheriff who inadvertently shot himself--twice! Witness the insurance defrauder who amputated his leg with a chainsaw! Heed the story of the farmer who avoided bee stings by sealing his head in a plastic bag! Cringe at the man crushed by a branch he'd just severed... directly over his head!

123 new stories, 18 full-page illustrations, plus discussions of transgenic animals, the origin of life, and more.

Autographed by Author!
