Darwin says, "Accepted into the Archive!"
ORIGINAL SUBMISSION

Joe, 20, was drunkenly driving through an upstate New York farmtown. He drove his car into a ditch and hit a powerline. The only way he could get his car out of the ditch without getting a DWI was to steal a nearby farm tractor, and drag the car out himself. He goes to the farm, and gets a tractor drives it out to the scene of the accedent. He then proceeded to drive into the down power lines. Elexcticuting him to death.

News Article from DemocratandChronicle.com:

Electrocution victim is identified

The victim of an electrocution in Wayne County this morning was identified as Joseph D. Maliborski, 20, of Eddy Ridge Road in Marion. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Maliborski was attempting to tow his car from a ditch using a farm tractor when he was electrocuted by low-hanging power lines. The accident happened about 4 a.m. on Ball Road in Marion. An accident involving Maliborski's car caused the low-hanging power lines, the sheriff's office said. When he tried to retrieve the car, the tractor got tangled in the lines. The sheriff's office was assisted by Marion fire and ambulance crews. Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
Let me get this straight... This mook drives off the road and hits a power line but the power lines don't drop low enough to electrocute him. So he goes and steals a tractor that can reach the power line and uses that to electrocute himself? That's some serious Darwin-grade behavior. Thanks, Tom!

While the link has expired I will take the story at face value and award the fried contender a vote for a DA. Thanks Tom

Darwin Awards III: Survival of the Fittest

Hardback. 304 pages. Autographed.
$15
The human race's most popular humor series returns with a brand-new collection of macabre mishaps and misadventures. Honoring those who improve our gene pool by inadvertently removing themselves from it, the Darwin Awards III shows once more how uncommon common sense still is.

Salute the sheriff who inadvertently shot himself--twice! Witness the insurance defrauder who amputated his leg with a chainsaw! Heed the story of the farmer who avoided bee stings by sealing his head in a plastic bag! Cringe at the man crushed by a branch he'd just severed... directly over his head!

123 new stories, 18 full-page illustrations, plus discussions of transgenic animals, the origin of life, and more.
