In the capital city of Austria, Vienna, a young man tried to check out the contents of a cellar vault. Since the door is a wooden lattice (http://static2.orf.at/vietnam2/images/site/oesterreich/200740/keller300_big.jpg)construction leaving a small space above it, he decides to climb over it.

But how to achieve this? No slouch, he takes his belt and a piece of string or rope to build a contraption not very unlikely to an climber's ladder.

It probably shortly after midnight when he was just pushing his head through the gap and the rope snapped. Loosing his support this pro got stuck with his head on the inside, the body swinging on the outside, and the neck resting rather uncomfortably on the wooden lattice.

His own weight got himself stuck there, and due to the pressure on his carotid artery he probably lost consciousness within minutes.

The next morning around 0830 tenants of that block discovered the body of the suffocated would-be thief.

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
"Curiosity killed the cat" sure comes to mind on this one. The news link doesn't appear to work but the photo of the wall helps. Thanks for sending this in.

Some people are simply unaware of our anthropomorphic limitations, others are dilletantes in the art of breaking and entering. This buffoon was both. Hopefully, death came with relatively little pain, but I'm sure he had time to ponder the most grievous error of his life!
