oversized load kills man of 75.

2007 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

while driving one hot after noon on the outskirt's of hope arkansas I came across a rather odd discovery.A car with no person in it laying on it's side with the roof of the car completely ripped off.In the distance a tow truck was coming toward me,and the police, and ambulance going away from me.I had to ask what happened, and the tow truck driver was more than welcome to tell me,while pulling the car out of the revine over the bridge.

He said that an oversized load was coming across the bridge the same time this old man was,the old man too stubern to pull over and let the truck aside decided to stop on the gas peddle, and beat the truck across the bridge. While accelerating at a rather high speed,he ducked his head in case of and accident.(hello, oversized load.)

when both vehichles met with one another, catastraphy happened. The oversized load tore the top completely off of the mans car,and in the process decapitated the old man's head.I thaught to myself, how stupid does some one have to be to get in a bridge race with an oversized load.To my supprize,I heard all about the enccident by my friend's the next day and it also made the front page on the hope star news paper.

So this old coot thought he could beat an oversized load over an undersized bridge, eh?! It would have been MUCH easier to pass the truck once over the bridge, and most septugenarians I know wouldn't attempt such a stunt! I'll vote to keep this as a PA! Thanks, Jessie!

Too bad that the Hope Star only allows searches up to 14 days old, and the search did not return this story. I would have liked to give this one a full Darwin but cannot without verification. Ah, the stubborness of these old Jayhawks! Thanks for the submission, Jessie
