And apparently, it seems Mr July for 2007, really did a job on himself.

According to the article found in the Daily Star, Said Maoush, aged 60, was trying to throw a stick of dynamite into the water when the stick exploded. The fisherman's left arm was blown into the sea and his face was burned. Maoush died of his wounds soon after he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Now what is intriguing is that this isn't the United states but Lebanon, and in Lebanon, you usually can get anything.. Including dynamite.

and in Said's case, tossing a stick into the sea to get fish (Illegally I might add, as Lebanon frowns upon this type of Fishing known as "Blast Fishing" and according to enviromentalists that this occurs ever month...

so believe me in Lebanon, there's 12 Darwins a year there..

But let's look at this...

Reproduction: Said was probably a grandfather due to his age, but even if his wife found out, maybe she didn't give him a kid.. but this one is up in the air.

Excellence: Well for this one it's a case of 'BTDT' (Been there, Done that), so it's not uncommon for this to happen in Lebanon..

3 Self Selection: He chose to use Dynamite.. that's a big plus...and because he got his arm blown off, well he deserved that...

4. Maturity - This one is 60.. Old enough to be someone's grandpa.... but let's just hope he doesn't have kids.. or grandkids who do this.. if he does, we got future winners in the making!

Veracity... Well this isn't a known paper I have heard. but still when its' from Sidon Lebanon, it makes it unique...

While the guy definitely did himself in, I am leaning towards a toss on a couple of points. First is the age issue. As Paul said, this guy has been around long enough to spread his genes well and probably too long to have had much potential for more reproduction. But if you do a search on "dynamite fishing" it appears that this "sport" is much too common worldwide and much too common a way to end your earthly existence. Thanks for sending it Paul
