HM:

I expect we will be seeing these schmucks in the DA awards some day. Here is the original article with a few added remarks and corrections:

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - It’s a bad idea to burglarize a place marked “K-9 training facility.”

Police dog handlers arriving Wednesday at the abandoned nursing home where they hold training sessions discovered two men and a woman dismantling the building’s copper pipes and wiring, Hall County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kiley Sargent said.

When the officers arrived, the three dropped their tools and ran. That was their second mistake.

“For anyone to try to run from a whole unit of canines, it’s just a no-win situation,” Sargent said.

But perhaps they thought they would be able to outrun large dogs since they were unburdened by excess weight inside their skulls?

Pamela Puckett, 37, quickly surrendered. Marc Black, 18, was tracked to a trash bin behind a nearby convenience store.

At least one of them made it all the way home them.

Paul Perry, 39, was treated for a superficial dog bite just below the buttocks after his arrest, authorities said.

Such a pity Paul did not turn around to remonstrate with his opponent. 180 degrees and that dog would have been a hero to mankind.

Signs outside the northern Georgia facility warn, “Caution!!! Gainesville Police Department K-9 training facility — Keep Out.”

“It’s not like it was a secret,” Sargent said. “I guess someone who is that determined to steal something might not pay attention.”

High copper prices in recent years have led to thieves breaking into power plants and abandoned factories to rip out the wiring.

Perry of Gainesville and Puckett and Black of nearby Braselton were charged with burglary, Sargent said. Perry and Black also face misdemeanor obstruction charges.

All three remained in custody Friday. Jail officials had no information on whether any had lawyers.

For some very odd reason, jail officials were not asked whether any had enough neurons between the ears to make at least one synapse.

I'd normally toss this as another dumb crook story or a too-common case of fleeing the law, but there is something very cartoony about a trio of bozoids being chased by not one, not two, but a WHOLE PACK of angry police dogs! They're lucky they didn't get mauled to death! This one ought to go to DumbCrooks.com as well. Thanks, Tom!

I'm with James on this one. I can just imagine the frenzy all the K-9's must have gotten into just waiting to be let loose to chase these idiots down. These guys were lucky they didn't actually make it into the facility because they likely would have come face to face with the dogs, and with no police handlers around there would have been nothing to stop a mauling. Thanks, Tom!
