Garden Bomb

2007 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

In 2002 A Murray Bridge (near adelaide) man, 38, blew himself up in his bunker (probably a water tank) buried 1 metre beneath the earth where he was growing cannabis hydroponically. His family alerted the authorities at 9.30am after hearing an explosion in the back yard. It took 2 hours for emergency services to dig him out.

In 2006 a 35yr old Adelaide man electrocuted himself and died while trying to wire up a hydro set. His body was found the next day by a female friend. Police said he had wired a large light the wrong way round. I remember this one well, My aunt lives in the suburb this happened in, and both incidents are in "The Advertiser" newspapers archives

Thanks for sending this in, Anna. Unless we are given a link to the original articles, the best I can do is keep this as a PA. There's not much info here, I'm afraid, but there IS potential! If you can give us a bit more detail, we'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Since there is no supporting documentation I will have to vote Personal Account on this one even though it has multiple actors. I guess the first one was a unique way of getting high from below ground! Thanks for the story, Anna

Thanks, but more info would be useful

Interesting stories Anna, but they could use a bit more detail. Without more information on what caused the explosion in the first story there's no way of knowing if it was a true accident or Darwin grade stupidity. The second one is borderline too common since amateur electricians have been electrocuting themselves for as long as man has been harnassing electricity.

Needs a better write up and some sortof backup in print. Thanks for the submission though!
