Fall vacation from HELL

Me and my insane friend "Tony" almost became the youngest Darwin award recipients...TWICE(we are mature enough to understand everything involved and should have known better, but younger than any previous winner). During our fall break last year, we were on an entirely safe trampoline, or safe for anyone who had never read the Darwin Awards(we are fans). Anyway, this particular trampoline was next to a river, that was 10 feet down a cliff, and had rocks(boulders) at the bottom. It was positioned at a slant so there was no way that you could accidentally fall off. Tony saw a flat rock at the bottom and said "I'll bet i can do a flip and land on that rock standing up" I did not think he could and I was right, although he did hit two other rocks on the way. But I had more balance, I jumped off without doing a flip and landed perfectly on the rock. Of course, I had forgotten that rocks are HARD and this rock was no exception. I bent my knees as I landed on it, so I wasn't hurt badly and I tucked my chin in when I fell on the rock behind, which saved me. One would think that we would have wised up, ah but one would be thinking wrong. Later in that same break we had another Darwinian idea, spray bug spray through a lighter towards a can of shaving cream! Unfortunately, Tony must have looked like a sort of insect, or I wasn't paying attention. Either way, he was set on fire and so was the shaving cream, which fortunately didn't hit us with any shrapnel. The cream did not miss us in a likewise manner, and was either already on fire or was ignited by Tony, who was running in circles screaming. Needless to say we were both in flames. Happily, we were not far from the trampoline, so we jumped into the river. But alas, we had again forgotten something. The rocks were still in the river. The above mentioned flat rock in particular served as a landing spot for both of us. After being treated for a few 2nd degree burns and minor fractures, we were thanking God that the break was over and we were going back to school. Amazingly, this did not appear in any form of media which is why this is a personal account and why it is being told in 2007.

Hoo-boy. Saved By The Bell, eh? Were it not for the end of the school break, you may well now be the recipients of Darwin Awards! Thanks for sharing with us, John.

Yep, looks like you two had too much fun! I imagine this will make for a good nostalgic laugh someday! Glad you made it; thanks for submitting!

Sorry, but I've been on trampolines and any body who would set one up at an angle is criminally irresponsible. Nor can I see how you and your buddy could have bounced in the opposite direction from the tilt. More information needed, please.

Shaving cream on fire??? I didn't know soap would burn. I got a chuckle out of this one! Thanks for the story and please let us know BEFORE your next attempt so we can watch the news stories to see if that coveted DA is yours!
