Too Impatient to Live

2006 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Ahmed Ashraf, from Karachi, Pakistan, was engaged to Naureen, but he was too impatient to wait for their December 25th wedding date. He warned her that he would "do something drastic" if she refused to get married two months early. He decided to serenade her with a fusillade of bullets outside her home. Unfortunately, one ricocheted and struck his intended as she was coming downstairs, wounding her and causing her to cry out. Thinking that he had killed her, Ashraf promptly shot himself dead. A tragedy, yes, but a benefit not only for the gene pool but also for a woman who may yet find a more patient (and less dangerous) future husband.

Thanks for submitting, Jeffrey. While I've zapped all previous submissions on this story, your write-up is the best of the lot, and your ending argument IS convincing! I will therefore defer this one to Darwin. Ah, the power of an ORIGINAL write-up! Thanks!

A modern day Romeo & Juliet but I did like the write-up.

For me, this just doesn't make the grade but I've been known as the DA's grouch for a long time. Darwin, this one's yours! :))
