Woman Crashes When Teaching Dog to Drive Aug 28 8:13 AM US/Eastern

BEIJING

A woman in Hohhot, the capital of north China's Inner Mongolia region, crashed her car while giving her dog a driving lesson, the official Xinhua News Agency said Monday.

No injuries were reported although both vehicles were slightly damaged, it said.

The woman, identified only be her surname, Li, said her dog "was fond of crouching on the steering wheel and often watched her drive," according to Xinhua.

"She thought she would let the dog 'have a try' while she operated the accelerator and brake," the report said. "They did not make it far before crashing into an oncoming car."

Xinhua did not say what kind of dog or vehicles were involved but Li paid for repairs.

Right, then! I know "odd news" is usually not eligible for an award, but FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!! This is as stupid a driver story as I've heard! Thankfully, she was driving on some podunk one-and-a-half lane dirt road and not the Long Island Expressway, but she could have been killed!!! I'll let this one slide for the stupidity alone!!! A DOG...SHEEESH!

Thanks, Deb. I actually had to read this twice to believe it! This one does stand out from the pack and I'm still wondering how nobody was injured.

Yeah, this one just screams out "stupid" to my figurative ear. There were no injuries and an innocent person's car was presumably dinged just like the dingbat's own car was, but I really think there is still fertile comic ground here.
