A few meters after leaving a Porshe dealership a man was killed in his Porshe when he crashed against a bifurcacion in the road when his car reached a 100mph. Quiroz Mendoza had just picked up his Porche at 9:30 am from service and took the bridge in excesive speed crashing and spinning in it's own axis and coming to rest against the guard rail where he was crushed. Paramedics came to the scene and found him dead on impact."to have an impact of this magnitude he must have been traveling at least a 100 or so miles per hour" a policeman commented. A combined effort between paramedics and firefighter made possible to extract the body of 26 year old Mendoza, he was identified by his uncle. What's incredible is the short distance between the dealership and the point of impact, It can't be more than a 90 meters.

I almost tossed this until I got to the last line. If he went from zero to 100 in less than 90 meters' space, this proves a) the Porsche has nice pick-up, and b) this fellow is truly an idiot for wanting to drive his new "toy" at full speed right out of the lot! I hope for the dealer's sake the late Mr. Mendoza's check clears! :-)

Maybe Toss: Darwin Award
Oh yes, Porches have acceleration to die for (no pun intended). I'm a little unsure on this. I know I would have waited for a nice piece of straight and quiet road to test it's acceleration, handling and *definitely* stability of braking ability. This guy obviously couldn't wait.

Idiots with fast cars are very common... but the fact that he had to get it up to 100mph within 100 yards of the dealer does raise him somewhat over the usual level of stupidity.

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
I found this article (we carry Mural in our database) and the details aren't quite right. Quiroz Mendoza did die, but he was 50 years old - his 26-year-old nephew identified him. The article doesn't say how far the lot was from the bridge where Sr Mendoza died, but says it was close. Even more of a DA, since he wasn't some jock!
