The URL is below, I thought that this is tragically right up there with the best. During a severe electrical storm this guy climbed onto the roof of a building to see if the storm had passed... Yeah, I know, pretty easy to see where this is going really. He's in critical condition in hospital with burns from the lightning strike... so he may be up for a full Darwin Award yet. The details are about half way down the report but this is it; "A 42-year-old Queensland man is critically ill in hospital after being struck by lightning while holidaying in northern NSW. He had climbed to the roof of a Kingscliff resort building, on Marine Parade, to see if an electrical storm had passed about 6.50pm (AEDT), police said. He was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital in a critical condition with severe burns."

Though the story lacks the degree of excellence I'd prefer to see, I am still intrigued that someone would climb to the roof of a building to see if an electrical storm had passed. To me, it's rather like sticking one's finger in an empty light socked to see if the electricity is on. I guess he got his answer...!

I agree. Write up is not great, but the situation makes me chuckle. Only a HM at the moment though? He isn't dead.

There's a similar one in the slush pile that's a Persal Account that's funnier, though
