Southern Stockholm archipelago, Sweden. This happend about ten years ago, i could not find any media reference confirming it but i got it first hand from a friend helping to retrive the idiots involved. In Sweden during the all to short boating period it is a common trade to steal outboard engines from unsuspecting boat owners and then sell them for some extra cash. These two persons decided it was a good idea first to steal a boat to carry the stolen engins since this also made it easy to get to the boats without being noticed. The whather in this part of the coast can be somewhat unpredictable and it seems that the thiefs in question were not experienced with the behaviour of a small boat with heavy load in rough weather. They must have been pretty good with the stealing bit though, they managed to steal enough engines to sink the boat and since none of them where wearing life jackets and the temrature of the water is normaly quite cold in the early summer both of themdrowned.

I think it is safe to say you should not steal more than you will be able to carry!
