y friends and I went camping by a four-wheeling trail for a graduation celebration. Like normal grad parties this included a keg and a few bottles of liquor. So around two in the morning, the few of us that were still doing keg stands, saw some very tall rocks and thought it would be fun to (in the dark) climb them. It was fairly easy getting up to the top, but it was getting down that ended up being almost deadly.

y friend, Chris Jene, decided he could jump about six feet to a rock, cling to it like "Spider Man", and shimmy down the rest of the thirty-foot drop. So, drunken and confident, he carried on with his plan. He jumped a little too hard and hit the front side of his head on his destination rock, falling backwards hitting the back of his head, then tumbling between the two cliffs for the rest of the thirty foot drop. For him the night ended with a concussion, a broken arm and a series of gashes covering his body. He couldn't remember where he was until 5 am, but other than that, luck stood between him and extinction.

I hope you learned something from his mishap. Unfortunately, drinking too much causes the brain to lose the ability for rational thought for a time, and people in that state qualify as temporarily insane. They do all sorts of things sane people would not do. We can't possibly give awards to all of them, and really, we don't give awards to insane people at all.

Definitely Keep: Personal Account
Since we aren't as strict about Personal Accounts, I vote to keep this one as a PA.

Hi - I'll go for a PA here

I'm of two minds. As Kelly said, the judgement was impaired by booze; but I suspect that the amount of stupidity here was not very great. It looks to me as though he almost made it...

I'd say that luck certainly DID stand between him and extinction. And while I tend to agree with Kelly and Charles that stupidity under the influence of alcohol is all too common, I couldn't help laughing at the story. The sequence of events once he jumped for the rock are right out of a cartoon (hits front of head, then hits back of head...)! I'll vote "yea" for a PA...
